ButtaBuzz Started With Our Own Dogs.

ButtaBuzz was founded by two brothers, Kyle and Tom, after we became tired of watching our own dogs go through the same uncomfortable cycle again and again.

The constant licking. The scratching. The dry, irritated-looking patches. The vet appointments, rising bills, new creams, medicated shampoos and the hope that this time we had finally found the answer.

Things might improve for a while, but before long the same problem would return — and we would be back where we started.

We felt frustrated, helpless and increasingly uncomfortable with the number of different products being recommended. Many contained petroleum, synthetic fragrance, essential oils or long ingredient lists we did not fully understand — all being applied to dogs who naturally lick their skin.

We did not want another temporary cover-up. We wanted to understand dog skin properly, why dryness kept returning and whether there was a simpler way to support it.

We didn’t create ButtaBuzz because the world needed another dog balm. We created it because we were tired of watching our dogs struggle while every new solution seemed temporary.

The dogs that inspired ButtaBuzz

The More We Researched, The Simpler The Answer Became.

We spent countless days and nights learning about dog skin, natural fats, traditional remedies, ingredient safety and the difference between supporting dry skin and simply coating its surface.

Dog Skin Is Different

Dogs are not small humans. Their skin is structurally different, and they regularly lick whatever is applied to their paws, noses and body. That made every ingredient matter to us.

Temporary Coating Wasn’t Enough

We kept finding products designed to create a greasy barrier or make dry areas look better temporarily. We wanted something that worked with the skin’s natural oils rather than simply sitting on top.

Then Tallow Clicked

Tallow stood out because it is naturally rich in fatty acids and has been used in traditional skin care for generations. It was simple, nourishing and closer to the kind of oils skin already recognises.

That research led us to a deliberately simple formula: grass-fed beef tallow, organic olive oil and raw honey — chosen with dog skin, licking and everyday care in mind.

Two Brothers. One Shared Purpose.

We’re Kyle and Tom, the brothers behind ButtaBuzz. We started the brand because we wanted something we would genuinely feel confident using on our own dogs.

We did not come from a large skincare company, and ButtaBuzz was not created in a boardroom. It grew from personal frustration, long conversations, late nights of research and the determination to find a better approach.

As we studied dog skin, traditional ingredients and how different balms were produced, our standard became clear: the formula had to be simple, every ingredient had to serve a purpose, and we had to be comfortable using it on our own dogs first.

That principle still guides every decision we make. We are building ButtaBuzz slowly and carefully, with the goal of creating honest dog care that owners can understand and trust.

ButtaBuzz began with our own dogs — but it was created for every owner who has ever felt frustrated, helpless and unsure what to try next.

The Standard We Started With

If our dogs may lick it, we need to understand exactly what is inside it.

Every ingredient must have a clear purpose — nothing unnecessary.

If we would not confidently use it on our own dogs, it does not become ButtaBuzz.
